Introduction

The ABCDifference is the new initiative created by Adriana Martinez and Blanca May as a way to give back to the Dallas/Fort Worth community. When discussing various ways in which we could make a difference using our hair styling skills and expertise, we decided that doing something special for public school teachers would be an amazing way to show our gratitude for what they do for the children and parents in our community. Teachers are a crucial part of molding our future and are unfortunately, very often under-appreciated and overlooked. We understand that teachers spend nearly all of their time thinking about others and not themselves. In an effort to show our teachers how much we value and care about them, we will pick one teacher a month and treat them to a makeover!

The makeover, valued at $300, will include:

  • full image consultation
  • full color treatment
  • conditioning treatment
  • haircut and style

To show even more love, Adriana and Blanca are offering all public school teachers 20% off all services! Simply call Dear Clark to set up your appointment and please mention The ABCDifference discount at the time of booking.

  • Please note: this offer is only good with Adriana and Blanca and excludes Saturday appointments.

Let's get started! Click the above tab to nominate.
(All nominations need to be in by the 20th of each month to qualify)

This month’s ABCDifference honoree is Jamie Harrell. Mrs. Harrell has been teaching at Daugherty Elementary School in Garland, TX for three years. She specializes in K-3 Special Education Resource. Jamie loves the look in the eyes of a child when they learn something new for the first time. The experience she shares with them, broadening horizons is extremely gratifying. One of her most rewarding experiences was working with a 1st grader who had some real difficulty remembering letters and sounds. This student, after working with Mrs. Harrell was able to read! Jamie finds it really sweet when her students tell her that they are sad on Fridays because they will miss her over the weekend. Jamie Harrell hopes that the future of education keeps it all about the kids.

In Jamie’s down time, she can be found doing family activities with her three year old, eight month old, and husband. When Jamie discovered that she was chosen as this month’s honoree she was very excited! Having young kids, she rarely does things just for herself. She had a wonderful experience working with Blanca and Adriana and is very happy with her new look!

Laura Gaytan has been teaching for 7 years and currently teaches 4th grade math and science at San Jacinto Elementary. Laura chose teaching because she wanted to impact the lives of students in a positive way. She gets to change lives every single day, even on the bad days! Mrs. Gaytan's dedication to her students is evident by a touching letter she received from one of her toughest students. This student didn't seem to listen or care but by the end of the school year absolutely flourished. She could not have been happier! One day Laura was drinking a Coke with "share a Coke with your BFF" written on it. One of her students asked her, "who is your BFF?" She said she wasn't sure and this student said, "It's me! I'm your BFF!" Laura hopes that her students remember her and what she taught them. She also has hopes for an educational system in the future that is available to everyone.

When Mrs. Gaytan isn't grading papers, she is spending time with her baby boy. She was so excited and thankful to be this month's honoree. Her husband was relieved that he didn't have to dye her hair! Laura felt like Adriana and Blanca really listened to her and understood her needs. She appreciates all of their hard work and thinks they are very sweet for creating this program for teachers.
